Freda P. Huber Nist

Freda Pearl Householder Huber Nist, 81, of Slippery Rock Township died at 11:50 p.m. Monday at the Grove City Medical Center, Pine Township, Mercer County.

Born in Ellwood City, Lawrence County, June 21, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Ralph A. Householder and the late Sarah George Welsh Householder.

She was a Baptist.

She will be remembered through her involvement in the restaurant business. For many years, she was owner/proprietor of Huber's Restaurant in Slippery Rock, which later became the Ye Olde College Inn at the present location of The Camelot.

She also began Frau Freda's in Ambridge, The Dumplin' Haus in Volant and Granny's Haus in Slippery Rock. She owned or operated at least 13 restaurants in Butler, Beaver and Lawrence counties during her life.

She enjoyed crocheting and painting in oil and water color.

Surviving are two daughters, Kathy and her husband, Ike Drake, of Slippery Rock and Cheryl and husband, Curt Duffield, of Slippery Rock, with whom she made her home; a son, Pastor Bob Huber and his wife, Kathi, of Butler; a sister, Sharon Glass of Pittsburgh; two brothers, David Householder and his wife, Andrea, of Ellwood City and Ralph Householder and his wife, Cathy, of Camas, Wash.; her stepmother, Elizabeth Bodensky of Zelienople; 10 grandchildren, Heather and Scott Porter of Portersville, Matt and Julie Drake of Grove City, Garrett and Rachelle Drake of Grove City, Becky Drake of Philadelphia, Curt and Meghan Duffield of Volant, Jamie and Greg Leech of Richmond, Va., Bobby Duffield of Slippery Rock Sonya and Keith Kremer of Slippery Rock, Holli Huber of Butler and Nathan Huber of Butler; a foster granddaughter, Josie Ginter of Bradenville, Westmoreland County; a special granddaughter, Jindarat "Lisa" Seangsirikhun of Chaing Mai, Thailand, who made her home with Bob and Kathi Huber for three years; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence P. Huber; a sister, Anna Mae Drotleff; a great-grandson, Jaron Drake Porter; and a foster grandson, Matthew Petrosky.

<B>NIST</B> — Visitation for Freda Pearl Householder Huber Nist, who died Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with her son, the Rev. Robert C. Huber, pastor of the North Street Christian Church, officiating. Interment will be at the North Sewickley Cemetery, Beaver.
