Emergency responders doused a fire Tuesday that damaged a building used as a youth center on Annisville Road in Washington Township. The blaze drew multiple volunteer fire companies to the property, but no one was injured according to Eric Feicht, assistant chief of the Bruin Volunteer Fire Department. The fire was contained to the building's interior. The property is owned by the Church of God of Prophecy.

WASHINGTON TWP — Emergency responders say a state police fire marshal will investigate the cause of an interior fire Tuesday that damaged a building that a township church uses as a youth center.

The fire, which was reported at about 11:45 a.m. Tuesday at 1016 Annisville Road, drew multiple volunteer fire companies to the property, but injured no one according to Eric Feicht, assistant chief of the Bruin Volunteer Fire Department.

Feicht said the fire was contained to the building’s interior. It was knocked down by firefighters before it could damage the exterior of the building, which is wooden and bears the sign “Yommer Hall.”

The property is owned by the Six Points Church of God of Prophecy, said neighbors and church members who gathered to watch firefighters douse the blaze.

The fire occurred in a building the church uses as its youth center, according to church members. The property also houses a thrift store, but that building was not involved in the fire Tuesday.

Feicht said it was not immediately clear how the fire began, and a state police fire marshal was asked to investigate. Numerous fire companies, including Bruin, West Sunbury, North Washington, Emlenton, Unionville and Chicora responded to the fire.
