CRANBERRY TWP — Charges could be filed next week after a driver fled from Cranberry Township police.

According to Sgt. Chuck Mascellino of the Cranberry Township Police Department, the incident occurred at about 12:50 a.m. Wednesday. Police attempted to initiate a traffic stop near the intersection of Route 228 and Franklin Road.

According to Mascellino, the driver fled, with police following the vehicle onto Interstate 79. The driver lost control and crashed, sustaining injuries that required transportation to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, he said.

Additional information was not released Thursday, as the incident remains under investigation. Mascellino said charges would be filed next week.
