BUTLER TWP — Police said they have leads but no arrests in the theft of a customer's vehicle Friday morning from the Sheetz convenience store on New Castle Road.

The maroon 2008 Chevrolet HHR, which was taken around 7:15 a.m., has not been recovered. It had the Pennsylvania license plate ETL4665.

Butler Township police Lt. Matthew Pearson said Monday that police have a “possible suspect,” who he would not identify.

He said police have received tips from the public after posting information about the theft and a surveillance image on the department's Facebook page.

The suspected thief is described as a white man in his 50s who is clean shaven with a thin build.

The vehicle owner told police that he left the keys on the passenger seat before he went into the store. A be-on-the-lookout advisory was sent out to all county police departments.

The advisory noted that another motorist reported seeing what was thought to be the vehicle in Forward Township.

Pearson said police believe the suspect traveled to Pittsburgh in the vehicle. He would not elaborate.
