Adams Twp. supervisors reapprove shooting academy

ADAMS TWP — Supervisors granted reapproval of the Ellwand Shooting Academy Monday night.

The academy is to be located in the Whitetail Meadows development along Route 228.

It was previously approved in 2019. Site developers then sought an extension while financing was organized.

“There was a pause,” said Tony Clerici of Larson Design Group. “Now we're just back for re-approval.”

There are no changes from the original plan in terms of amenities, parking or the building, according to Clerici.

The plan has adapted to grading changes made to a neighboring property. Last year, the township asked for adjustments to road grading in Whitetail Meadows in the Aster Way area.

“There's a development going into the lot above the Ellwand Shooting range,” Clerici said. “The grading change (is) on the eastern part of Aster Way.”

Clerici explained the grading changes would have a slight impact on that side of the academy.

As previously reported by the Eagle, Ellwand Shooting Academy is expected to be a roughly 7-acre site with a variety of shooting ranges.

Russell Ford, supervisor chairman, noted there's been “a lot of conversation” regarding the shooting academy and whether or not it would be built.

The site is now on a “60-day clock,” according to plan developers. They are hoping to finalize permits and get the plan recorded quickly.

Supervisors unanimously granted reapproval.
