Suspect charged in vehicle break-ins
CRANBERRY TWP — A Forward Township man is accused of stealing more than $1,800 worth of items, from multiple cars on Grandshire Drive.
Nicholas Brittner, 27, Friday waived to court charges of felony possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, tampering with physical evidence and loitering and prowling at night.
He is free on $20,000 bail.
On March 5, Ryan Fudor and Caitlyn Yochum reported to Cranberry police that their vehicle was broken into overnight on Grandshire Drive, according to court records.
They reported cash, gift cards, a hockey jersey, hockey gloves, a comic book and other items, totaling $665, were missing.
They reported seeing Brittner, who Yochum knew from high school, walking on the street early that morning. Police allegedly matched fingerprints from the vehicle to Brittner.
Police recovered some of the stolen property after confronting Brittner at his mother’s home, though he allegedly burned a birth certificate and other documents.
He also allegedly stole two GPS devices from cars belonging to Robert Wise, valued at $600, and a GPS, an iPod and a bottle of Alazopram from Nathan Mercer, valued at $630.
Police also recovered a pair of headphones, a pair of glasses and a hat that could not be linked to a victim.
