Butler baseball rolls on
Cooper Baxter and James Desmond combined to strike out 11 Tuesday afternoon as Butler’s baseball team remained unbeaten with a 7-2 win at Taylor Allderdice.
Ethan Trettel led the Golden Tornado’s six-hit attack with a double, single, two RBI and two runs scored. Kyle Yost had a double and scored two runs while Connor McTighe also doubled.
Desmond worked the final four innings to get the win. He struck out seven and walked one. Taylor Allderdice managed only two hits.
The Golden Tornado improved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in section play.
Softball
Slippery Rock pitcher Paige Gresgott struck out 16, walked one and gave up just four hits in a 2-0 victory over Corry.
Kinzie Miller had two hits for Slippery Rock and Anna Greer drove in the game’s only two runs.
Track and Field
Rossi McMillen won three events — 100-meter hurdles, 400 and high jump — for Karns City as the Gremlin girls defeated Clarion-Limestone, 97-53.
Luke Cramer won the javelin for KC’s boys with a heave of 153 feet, five inches as the Gremlins defeated the Lions, 118-32.
