GC defending state swim title
GROVE CITY — The Grove City boys 200-yard medley quartet turned in a historic season in 2014-15. Repeating will be a tall order, but the Eagles are embracing the challenge.
Austin Wilson, Thomas Somora, Rockwell Pokrant and Devin Reynolds won a District 10 Class AA title in the medley relay, then capped the season last March by setting a school record in winning a state title with a time of 1 minute, 36.77 seconds.
Wilson and Somora return as seniors this season while Reynolds and Pokrant are now juniors.
While the relay team includes the leaders for Grove City, the Eagles have a very deep roster.
Junior John Carothers and sophomores Mason Wise, Will Rastatter, Ben McKnight and Will Hannon also qualified for the district meet last year while helping the team compile a perfect 17-0 record.
Following are preview capsules for Butler County-area swimming and diving teams.
