12:40 p.m. Saturday — Steven Thompson Jr., 52, of Butler lost control of his car rounding a bend on North McKean Street, traveled down a hillside and hit a tree. Police said Thompson was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.
7 a.m. Saturday — A car driven by Heather L. Baldwin, 21, of Slippery Rock struck an embankment and rolled over, landing on a guardrail on Interstate 79 in Cranberry Township. Police said Baldwin was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.2:55 a.m. Saturday — Someone stole a car that was left running in the parking lot of the Campus Side Apartments in Slippery Rock Township. The car, owned by a 21-year-old Slippery Rock University student, is a white, 2010 Mazda 6 sedan with the Ohio license plate EXY1335Anyone with information about the stolen car is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.8:20 p.m. Friday — An Ohio man was hurt when the pickup truck he was driving crashed into a guardrail on Branchton Road near Rock Hill Lane in Cherry Township. Derek A. Magee, 18, of Petersburg, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries. Police said he was cited for a lane violation.9:30 p.m. Thursday — Justin Victor, 20, and Casey Miller, 24, both of Butler, were arrested after a domestic dispute at a Rolling Valley Lane home in Connoquenessing Township. Both were arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $2,500 bail each. Police said Victor also was cited for underage drinking.March 28 — An unknown thief stole 15 gallons of gas from an Armstrong work van at a driveway on Old Roue 422 in Clearfield Township. The thief also tried but failed to gain access to the gas tank of a sport utility vehicle, damaging the rear driver side taillight.The stolen gas is valued at nearly $40 and damage to the SUV is estimated at $400. The theft happened between March 26 and 28.4:55 a.m. March 27 — A car driven by Tara N. Storey, 24, of Butler struck three mailboxes and posts before ending up in a field and knocking over a fence along Bear Creek Road in Winfield Township. Police said Storey, who suffered a minor injury, left the scene after the crash. Police said Storey faces several tickets for unspecified traffic violations.March 19 — An unknown thief stole a 1950s model Ford farm tractor from a Kelly Road home in Venango Township. The tractor, which was taken between Jan. 15 and March 19, has a red motor, three white rims and one blue rim.1:30 p.m. March 18 — A car driven by James C. Overholt, 85, of Cabot struck the side of a parked tractor-trailer on Route 356 near Marwood Road in Jefferson Township. Police said Overholt was cited for careless driving.
7:55 a.m. March 29 — James Crew, 22, of Rimersburg was arrested for allegedly slamming an 18-year-old woman to the ground during a domestic dispute at a Cherry Run Road home in Rimersburg. Crew is charged with simple assault. A police report did not identify the woman.
2 a.m. Saturday — An unidentified purple vehicle struck a mailbox along Old Route 28 about one-half mile north of Beckett Road in North Buffalo Township. The unknown driver did not stop after the crash.
12:28 a.m. Sunday — Allen Lee Guthrie, 43, of Boyers is accused of drunken driving and scuffling with a pair of troopers following a police chase that ended on Old Ash Road in Springfield Township. Police said Guthrie faces a felony assault charge for fighting with Troopers Eric Miller and Timothy Repp. He also is charged with driving under the influence.Saturday — Stephen J. Taylor, 26, of Slippery Rock was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Blacktown Road in Springfield Township.March 26 — A Hewlett-Packard laptop computer and a radio-controlled truck and helicopter were stolen from a van at a Barkeyville Road home in Pine Township. The theft happened between March 21 and 26.
