Monday — Police charged Terry D. McClimans Jr., 26, no known address, with stealing a check from a Butler home and forging it last week. The check was cashed Aug. 9 for $120 at a Center Township bank. McClimans is charged with theft and forgery.5:15 p.m. Friday — Gary Petrigni, 69, of Butler was hurt when he lost control of his car traveling on Pike Street. The car crossed over Marvin Street and went through an off-street parking area, down a steep embankment, over a retaining wall and into a tree.Petrigni, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries. He told police the accident happened when his brakes failed.Meanwhile, the retaining wall owned by Bill Wahler of 205 Heim Ave., sustained unspecified damage. The tree owned by Ernie Freske of 203 Heim Ave. sustained minor damage.

4:18 p.m. Saturday — Kenneth Riddle, 39, of Lyndora is accused of attempting to change price tags on merchandise at the Trader Horn store in the Greater Butler Mart. Police said Riddle is charged with retail theft.

4:55 p.m. Monday — A pickup truck driven by Catherine E. States, 39, of Prospect and a car driven by Larry L. Maser, 59, of Butler collided at Unionville and Country Club roads in Franklin Township.12:11 a.m. Monday — An unidentified white vehicle rear-ended another car on Interstate 79 in Cranberry Township. Timothy R. Headlee, 26, of Carmichaels, Greene County, who was driving the car, was unable to provide a detailed description of the other vehicle that drove away after the crash.1:44 a.m. Saturday — Justin J. Conner, 30, of New Castle was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on I-79 in Muddy Creek Township.9:02 p.m. Friday — Kyle Prokop, 20, of Penn Township and a 17-year-old Clay Township boy allegedly were caught with suspected marijuana and drug contraband following a traffic stop at a convenience store on West Jefferson Street in Butler.Both are charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Prokop also is charged with corruption of minors, driving without insurance and littering.9:50 a.m. Thursday — An unidentified suspect was caught trying to steal a piece of copper from property on Marwood Road in Winfield Township. The would-be thief is described as a heavy set white man in his late-40s with facial hair. He was driving a bluish gray sport utility vehicle.Thursday — A burglar made off with a turkey and a ham after breaking open the side doors of the Cabot Food Bank on Marwood Road in Winfield Township. The stolen food was worth $40. Damage to the building was estimated at $100. The break-in happened Wednesday or Thursday.

5:15 a.m. Friday — A firework or explosive was used to damage a mailbox on Patterson School Road in Worth Township, Mercer County.4:17 p.m. Friday — Barbara J. Kelly, 64, of Slippery Rock was hurt when the car she was driving collided with another car driven by 28-year-old Jonathan E. Cropcho of Stoneboro at Route 58 and George Junior Road in Pine Township. Following the crash, Cropcho's vehicle collided with a car driven by Kristin M. Whitney, 200, of Harrisville.Kelly, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Grove City Medical Center with moderate injuries. She was cited for a red light violation.3:50 p.m. Thursday — A 16-year-old West Virginia boy is accused of lying to police when he claimed he was raped by a staff member at the George Junior Republic juvenile detention facility. Police said the boy, who they did not identify, later admitted that he made up the allegations. He is charged with unsworn falsification and false reports to police.10:15 a.m. Tuesday — Crystal S. Snyder, 22, of Grove City was hurt when the car she was driving crashed into a ditch and rolled onto its side at Millbrook and North Hazzard roads in Jackson Township. Snyder, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Grove City Medical Center with minor injuries. He was cited for careless driving.6:40 a.m. Tuesday — Benjamin C. Anderson, 18, of Grove City was hurt when the bicycle he was riding collided with a pickup truck at Route 208 and George Junior Road in Pine Township. Anderson, who was knocked to the ground, suffered moderate injuries.Tuesday — A burglar stole copper welding leads after breaking into a barn on East Gilmore Road in Wolf Creek Township. The burglary happened Aug. 8 or Tuesday.

Aug. 6 — A burglar broke into a garage and business in the 1400 block of Shaffer Road in Slippery Rock Township. The break-ins happened Aug. 5 or 6.
