Gerald Glenn “Hoot” Gibson

Gerald Glenn “Hoot” Gibson, 91, of Butler passed away Friday at UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless.

He was born Dec. 24, 1926, in Parker Township, Butler County, and was a son of the late Alvin Roy Gibson and the late Grace Emery Gibson.

Gerald was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Philippines and South Pacific during World War II.

He worked for Bantam Jeep and later Armco Steel Co., retiring in January of 1990 after 42 years.

Gerald raised and bred beagles and trained several champions.

He was a member of St. John's Reformed Church in Butler and the Breakneck Beagle Club.

Gerald loved the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers, reading, walking on Rails to Trails, but most of all, he loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his two daughters, Judy Gibson Buzanoski and Ron Wissinger, with whom he shared his home, and Glenda Enright and her husband, David, of Cambridge, Ohio; five grandchildren, Matt Buzanoski and his fiancée, Kait Sinclair, Megan Buzanoski, Macey Buzanoski, Craig Enright and his wife, Sharon, and Andrea Jackson and her husband, Adam; five great-grandchildren, Lainie Jackson, Brie Jackson, Zach Enright, Tyler Enright and Brody Buzanoski; and many nieces and nephews; but a special thank you to a special niece, Mary Hillard Beilstein.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Vivian Ilene Frazier Gibson, whom he married on Oct. 13, 1951, and who passed away on July 2, 2017; two sons, Donald R. Gibson and Jeffrey L. Gibson; and six brothers and sisters.
