Drivers, passenger in crash ID'd
State police have released the names of the drivers and passenger in a three-vehicle, chain-reaction crash Wednesday afternoon in Connoquenessing Township that injured a northern Butler County couple.
Douglas E. Leonberg, 70, one of the drivers, and his passenger, Nancy S. Leonberg, 70, both of Slippery Rock suffered minor injuries, authorities said, but they refused transport by ambulance.
Nancy Leonberg was later taken by private vehicle to Butler Memorial Hospital for evaluation of her injuries, police said.
The crash occurred around 4:20 p.m. in the eastbound lane of Route 68 at the intersection of Whitestown Road, according to a police report, when Kyle A. Baker, 33, of Butler apparently became distracted while driving a BMW sedan and rear-ended a Toyota RAV-4.
Douglas Leonberg was driving the Toyota sport utility vehicle, and he was slowing down for a red light. The collision from behind pushed his SUV into the back of a Ford Fusion, driven by Aaron J. Moninger, 43, of Butler, which was stopped at the red light.
Neither Baker nor Moninger were injured. All four occupants were wearing seat belts. The BMW and Toyota were towed. The Butler Volunteer Fire District assisted at the scene.
Police cited Baker for disobeying traffic-control devices.
