A horse-drawn wagon makes an appearance at Prospect Memorial Day Parade on Saturday. Residents lined both sides of Main Street to see the military color guard and veterans march.

PROSPECT — Standing on feet and sometimes tip toes, seated in chairs and stretched out on lawns, the young and old and in-between came out in droves to catch the featured act Saturday of the annual Prospect Memorial Day Parade & Community Day.

Crowds lined both sides of Main Street to watch the parade led by the traditional military color guard and veterans, beginning at 11 a.m.

The clapping, cheering and waving continued as the parade participants, fire engines and tankers, classic cars and, of course, Shriners' mini-cars passed by.

Food and craft vendors were also out in force at the event.

The day included the always-popular Battle of the Barrel fire department competition, a water balloon toss and dunk station.
