ADAMS TWP — Members of the planning commission had so many qualified candidates for the seat vacated by Dan Bogdanich that they passed the task of selecting one to the supervisors.

Tom Franceschina, the supervisors vice president, said at the Monday night township meeting that six excellent applicants expressed their interest in joining the planning commission in the fast-growing township.

Having considered all the applicants, supervisors appointed Liz McMeekin.

McMeekin grew up in neighboring Middlesex Township and co-owns Quality Gardens along Route 228 with her husband, Tom.

Franceschina said McMeekin, who is an environmental engineer, could add her expertise to the planning commission.

“She’d be a great asset too because she’s been a lifelong resident (of the area),” he said.

McMeekin, who attended the meeting on Monday night, served on the planning commission 15 years ago.

“I’m in a stage of life where I have time and I’m interested in what’s happening in the community,” McMeekin said of her decision to apply for the volunteer position.

She said she feels the township should review the planned residential development section of the zoning ordinance as requested by several residents of the rural-agricultural zoning district.

“I understand the concerns that have been expressed,” McMeekin said.

The supervisors also approved Kelly Chaponis and Clay Morrow to fill vacant seats on the parks and recreation board of directors.
