SAXONBURG — Saxonburg VFW officials are trying to solve the mystery of a World War II memorial plaque that was recently found alongside a road in the borough.

Gordon Mainhart, commander of Saxonburg VFW Post 7376, said the plaque, which bears the names of several local World War II veterans, was turned into the VFW after being found.

He said no information on where the plaque belongs has turned up, and the VFW wants to get it back to its rightful home.
