1:55 a.m. Monday — Matthew Carothers, 26, was arrested for allegedly assaulting his 26-year-old girlfriend, April Ryan, during a domestic dispute at the couple's Pillow Street apartment. Carothers was arraigned on a charge of simple assault, and placed in Butler County Prison on $1,500 bond.7:30 p.m. Saturday — Two Butler men are accused of robbing and beating a 46-year-old man at his Negley Avenue home. The attack, according to a police report, was over "a dispute about money."Police said Adam Brown, 42, and Allen Klink, 50, allegedly caused severe facial injuries to the victim, who was not identified in the report, and took his money. The victim was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital.Brown and Klink were arraigned on charges of robbery, conspiracy aggravated assault, terroristic threats, theft and simple assault, and placed in the county prison on $15,000 bond each.8:10 p.m. Friday — John P. Ellis Jr., 39, of Pittsburgh was arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, Tamala Harris, 34, during a domestic dispute at her North Bluff Street home. Ellis was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment, and placed in the county prison.Friday — Larry N. Ingram, 19, of Butler is accused of stealing a "large amount" of DVDs, video games and game systems from his brother's home in the city, a police report said. Ingram is charged with burglary and two counts of theft in the case.
2:45 a.m. Friday — Shayla Hamilton, 21, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence after her car became stuck in a snowbank on Route 8 near Litman Road.11:04 p.m. Thursday — Lori Jean Nash, 38, of Lyndora was arrested for suspicion of DUI on North Main Street. Police said Nash also was cited for driving too fast for conditions and careless driving.
11:17 p.m. Monday — Robert T. Ondick, 46, of Callery was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at Spithaler School and Ashtop roads in Forward Township.3:45 p.m. Monday — Aminivan driven by Samantha M. Hite, 28, of Portersville and a car driven by Thomas Brenneman Jr., 36, of Slippery Rock collided on Route 488 at the I-79 on-ramp in Muddy Creek Township. After the collision, the van struck an SUV driven by Samantha Mahling, 24, of Ellwood City, Lawrence County.Police said Hite, who was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries, was cited for a turning violation.Monday — An unknown burglar or burglars broke into Standard Bent Glass Corp. on Lincoln Avenue in East Butler and caused about $20,000 worth of damage to vending machines and other property in the building. Apolice report did not say if anything was taken in the burglary that occurred between 1:30 p.m. Sunday and 5 a.m. Monday.7:20 p.m. Sunday — Lindsay K. Winkler, 21, of Cranberry Township was hurt when the sport utility vehicle she was driving crashed and rolled over a median on Interstate 79 in Jackson Township. Police said Winkler, who was treated at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh for moderate injuries, was cited for unspecified traffic violations.6:20 p.m. Sunday — A pickup truck driven by Christina R. McNamara, 30, of Gibsonia hit an embankment and rolled over on I-79 in Jackson Township. Police said McNamara was cited for a lane violation.4:46 p.m. Sunday — An SUV driven by Curtis A. Handlovic, 23, of Cranberry Township crashed into a guardrail in I-79 in Lancaster Township.4:15 p.m. Sunday — Apickup truck driven by Kevin Schuring, 49, of Portersville crashed end over end on ice-covered I-79 in Lancaster Township. The truck landed on its roof. Neither the driver nor a passenger Perry E. Braden, 48, of Prospect, was injured. Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt.Police said Braden was found to be wanted on a warrant in Butler County, and was placed in Butler County Prison.Sunday — Police filed drug-related charges against Joshua Paul Mentzer, 29, of Center Township, stemming from an alleged sale of two stamp bags of heroin on Aug. 19 on Whitmire Avenue in Butler. Mentzer is charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.Sunday — Wendy Lynn Shoaf reported that someone stole her 2004 Nissan Maxima, valued at $4,000, from her Gameland Road home in Donegal Township. The theft occurred between 10 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday.2:15 a.m. Saturday — Chad Sweitzer, 19, of Clinton, Pa., was arrested for suspicion of DUI at Routes 108 and 173 in Slippery Rock.8:05 a.m. Friday — A car driven by Steven G. Shango, 32, of Butler and an SUV driven by Lynn Ishmial, 44, of Slippery Rock collided at Route 8 and Mercer Road in Center Township. The car, after the collision, struck another SUV, driven by Lauren Cubbage, 51, of Butler. Police said Shango was cited for careless driving.6:16 p.m. Jan. 19 — Cars driven by Nicholas J. Keith, 17, of Petrolia and Dawn Glasgow, 17, of Butler collided on Henricks Road at the Clearview Mall entrance. Police said Keith was cited for a stop sign violation.
Wednesday — An arsonist ignited two large round bales of hay in a field on United Presbyterian Church Road in Toby Township. The unknown suspect possibly was driving a two-tone green Chevrolet truck. George Farms of Rimersburg owns the hay.
