Rockets roll past Eagles

Slippery Rock girls move to 5-0; SV girls suffer loss

Kelly Benson scored 15 points and the Slippery Rock High girls basketball team stifled Grove City in a battle on unbeatens, 42-12, Thursday night.

Slippery Rock (6-0, 5-0) led 28-4 at the half.

Maryann Ackerman added 10 for the Rockets.

Hannah Reiber led Grove City (4-1, 4-1) with five points.

Seneca Valley was down by 10 entering the fourth quarter and couldn't rally for the victory.

Freeport 40, Burrell 33 — Melaina DeZort scored 23 points as the Yellowjackets held off Burrell.

Grace Soilis chipped in 12 points for Freeport.

Alayna Rocco added 15 and Dacia Lewandowski pitched in 12 points for North Catholic (8-1).

Redbank Valley 53, Union 35 — The Damsels dropped this home game to the Bulldogs Wednesday night.

Dominika Logue paced Union with 16 points.

Boys Basketball

John Sabo scored 16 points and Ethan Plesakov added 13 as Slippery Rock rallied for this 52-46 win over Mohawk.

The Rockets trailed 13-5 after the first quarter.
