Butler Twp. Police6:49 p.m. Tuesday — Two people were hurt when a car driven by Linda Bergbigler, 63, of Chicora and a sport utility vehicle driven by Laura Painter, 45, of Butler collided at North Duffy and New Castle roads.Bergbigler and an unidentified youth riding in her car were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries.1:10 p.m. Tuesday — Edward A. Madey, 62, of Butler was arrested after he created a disturbance at Butler Memorial Hospital. Police said they were called after the hospital asked Madey to leave but he refused. He allegedly made threats to the staff.When officers got there, according to a police report, they found the suspect apparently intoxicated. He was taken into custody, police said, but not without a struggle.He was later arraigned on charges of terroristic threats, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, harassment, defiant trespass and public drunkenness, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail.
State Police, Butler3:45 p.m. Thursday — Three people were hurt in a three-vehicle crash on Evans City Road at Old Route 68 in Forward Township.The wreck happened when a sport utility vehicle driven by Ranai M. McNally, 45, of Williamstown, Dauphin County, rear-ended a pickup truck driven by Paul R. Merten, 21, of Evans City.NcNally’s vehicle, following the collision, rolled onto its roof and was hit by another SUV driven by John F. Slagle, 47, of Callery.All three drivers were wearing seat belts. McNally and Merten were taken to UPMC Passavant Cranberry with moderate injuries. Slagle was treated at the scene for minor injuries.McNally, according to a police report, faces a ticket for careless driving.Thursday — Police reported they are investigating the reported indecent assault of a then 12-year-old Mercer County girl in 2010 at the Kwik Fill gas station on Route 8 in Center Township. A 58-year-old Mercer County man, who police did not identify, is suspected.Tuesday — Someone sawed in half a utility pole along Route 528 about one-half mile north of Lindy Road in Brady Township. The pole, owned by Central Electric of Parker, sustained $1,700 in damage in the vandalism.Nov. 13 — An unknown thief broke into a Center Township business, cut a vehicle’s fuel line and stole 10 gallons of gas. A downspout and fence were damaged in the crime between 9:45 and 10:10 p.m. at Schneider One Hour Heating on Unionville Road in Center Township.Nov. 12 — A 55-inch Panasonic Viera flat-screen television, valued at $1,048, was stolen in a burglary at a home on Holyoke Road in Center Township. The TV was recovered in Butler. Police said their investigation continues.
Butler PoliceThursday — Police accused James A. Fleischer, 31, of Butler with bouncing a check for $652.48 on May 23 at the office of District Judge Pete Shaffer. Fleischer faces a charge of bad checks.
State Police, Kittanning11:23 a.m. Wednesday — Kenneth M. Hooks, 23, of Chicora was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Tarrtown Road in East Franklin Township.Wednesday — A suspected thief stole several guns and an archery bow from a Templeton man’s home on Hoover Road in Boggs Township. Police said they later recovered the bow at a local business. The theft happened between August and Wednesday.Police did not identify the suspect. The investigation, they said, continues.12:35 p.m. Monday — A car driven by Brian M. Velez, 25, and a sport utility vehicle driven by Kim Kerr, 86, both of Templeton collided at Route 1032 and Sloan Hill Road in Boggs Township.
