Butler police are investigating the death of a 50-year-old woman who was found Thursday evening at her home on the 300 block of West Diamond Street.

Investigators were called around 6:35 p.m. and found Janette G. Tilley on her bedroom floor of the house, which is divided into apartments, authorities said.

There was no trauma on the body and no signs of foul play at the scene, according to investigators. An autopsy was planned Friday, but the findings were not immediately available.

Butler County Deputy Coroner Larry Barr pronounced the woman dead at 8 p.m. He said it appeared that she had been dead for at least 12 hours.

A friend told investigators that it had been two days since she saw the woman, who apparently lived alone.

Police reportedly found what appeared to be an empty stamp bag commonly used to package drugs, but it was not known how long it had been there.
