11:53 p.m. Sunday —Desmond R. Best, 29, of Butler was arrested after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, 27-year-old Christina Sheirer, during a domestic dispute at her Virginia Avenue apartment. Best later urinated on the floor of the holding cell in the police stations, causing about $100 in damage.Best is charged with simple assault and criminal mischief.Sunday — A 32-inch flat-screen television was stolen in a burglary at an apartment in the 400 block of West North Street.The tenant told police she had gone to the store about 12:45 a.m. When she returned home less than an hour later, she found her front door had been kicked in.The victim suspected three men, two from Butler and one from Jefferson Township, who knew she had gone to the store. Police spoke to the men, who all denied any involvement in the break-in.1:15 p.m. Saturday — Sport utility vehicles driven by Lisa R. Nagy, 44, of Butler Township and Janice Vavro, 67, of Center Township collided at West New Castle and Fourth Avenue.8:05 a.m. Saturday —An SUV driven by Sarah McGinnis, 17, of West Sunbury struck a utility pole along Brady Street. McGinnis told police the accident happened when she swerved her car to avoid another vehicle in her lane.Thursday — Joann D. Brothers, 26, of Butler was arraigned on criminal charges after allegedly admitting she stole checks belonging to a Butler woman and forging the owner's signature.Seventeen of those checks in July and August were cashed for more than $4,500. The suspect told investigators she used the money "to support her (drug) addiction."Brothers is charged with 17 counts each of forgery and theft by deception. She was released on her own recognizance, following arraignment.Thursday — An unknown burglar between 7:15 and 9:30 a.m. stole an Xbox video game system, accessories and numerous games from a South Street home. The stolen property is valued at $1,300.
9:16 p.m. Monday — Linda K. Ardine, 51, of Grove City is accused of assaulting 26-year-old Rosemary Ardine of Grove City at a home on Ralston Road in Slippery Rock Township. Linda Ardine faces charges of simple assault and harassment.6:20 a.m. Monday — William J. Troup, 36, of Karns City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after his vehicle struck a wooden post and lamp posts at the Woodbine Apartments on Route 68 in Oakland Township.9 p.m. Sunday — A car driven by Brian A. Best, 17, of Karns City struck an embankment on Slater Road in Allegheny Township. Best was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.Sunday — Two old McCullough chain saws were stolen in a burglary between Thursday and Sunday at a home on Mahood Road in Clay Township. In addition to the chain saws, one 18-inch and the other 30-inch, other unspecified items were also taken.Friday — A car driven by Dana J. Best, 55, of Slippery Rock and a Mack truck driven by Wayne H. McCormick, 36, of Cabot collided at Routes 173 and 8 in Brady Township.Wednesday — A burglar stole four rifles from a home on Woodwind Road in Worth Township. The break-in happened between 1 and 3 p.m.
5:30 a.m. Sunday — A sport utility vehicle driven by William J. Montgomery, 24, of Saxonburg struck a guardrail, rolled over, and landed on its wheels on Route 28 near Powers Run Road in O'Hara Township, Allegheny County. Montgomery was cited for a lane violation.
