5:17 p.m. Wednesday — Police nabbed a suspected shoplifter who tried to make off with $690 in merchandise at the Wal-Mart in Butler Commons. Benjamin Davidson, 32, of Butler was spotted running through the parking lot and was caught.He was arraigned on charges of retail theft, possessing instruments of crime, trespass, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail.7:30 a.m. Wednesday — Madalyn Somple, 21, of Butler is accused of trying to open the cash register at the Eat-n-Park restaurant on New Castle Road. The would-be theft failed because she did not know how to operate the cash register.Somple is charged with attempted theft, possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness.10:30 a.m. Tuesday — Two 15-year-old girls were cited for fighting at the Butler Intermediate High School. The girls are charged with disorderly conduct and harassment.
Wednesday — Police are seeking the unknown hit-and-run driver of a vehicle that struck a guardrail on George Junior Road. The vehicle was traveling north in the early morning hours, when the crash happened.Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-458-7925.
11:33 a.m. Thursday — A car driven by Richard R. Bertino, 69, of Freeport and a sport utility vehicle driven by Rose M. Kosakowski, 70, of Sarver collided on Marwood Road at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Jefferson Township. Bertino was cited for improperly entering a road.
3:04 p.m. Thursday — Robert Morrow, no age given, of Templeton was seriously injured when he lost control of his pickup truck and crashed into a house on Route 66 in Bethel Township.Morrow, who was not wearing a seat belt, was flown by medical helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh. His condition was not known this morning.The truck was badly damaged and the house sustained structural damage.8:26 p.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Shelby D. Hetler, 20, of Tarentum, Allegheny County, and a pickup truck driven by Frederick J. Young, 32, of Freeport collided on Route 28 in Harmar Township, Allegheny County. The car also hit a truck tractor driven by Wayne L. Blitch, 35, of North Versailles, Allegheny County.Hetler was cited for a lane violation.5:02 p.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Christopher G. Pendelton, 36, of Ford City struck a guardrail after sliding off snow-covered Route 422 in North Buffalo Township.3:18 p.m. Tuesday — A pickup truck driven by Terry A. Zimmerman, 52, of Templeton slid on the snow and into a car at Route 66 and Dime Road. Edward J. Bell, 58, of Kittanning was driving the car.12:30 p.m. Jan. 7 — Melissa S. Miller, 30, of Worthington swerved her car after hitting a deer and struck a tree along South Scenic Drive near Iron Bridge Road in South Buffalo Township.
