Butler Police
9:15 p.m. Monday — Mark L. Powell, 46, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence on St. Paul Street a short time after he allegedly ran out of a restaurant without paying his bill.
Police said Powell owed the Monroe Hotel on East Jefferson Street $14.06 when he drove away. Officers got a description of the vehicle and stopped it not far away. A breath test showed his blood-alcohol level at 0.18 percent, or more than twice the state’s 0.08 percent legal limit.
Powell is charged with DUI and theft of services.
Butler Twp. Police
12:40 p.m. Sunday — Shari Sorce, 49, of Butler was arrested after she allegedly shoplifted $257 in merchandise from the Wal-Mart in Butler Commons. Sorce fled the store, according to a police report, but was later found hiding behind a nearby shed. Police said she is charged with retail theft and disorderly conduct.
Harrisville Police
2 a.m. Saturday — Aaron L. Cook, 26, of Harrisville was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on North Main Street. Police said Cook also was cited for public drunkenness.
Friday — A bicycle was found at the basketball court in Harrisville Park. The owner can claim it by calling police at 724-735-2030.
State Police, Butler
Wednesday — An unknown burglar stole three 40-foot sections of braided copper ground cable valued at $570 after breaking into a barn on West Park Road in Worth Township. The burglary occurred between 9 p.m. Tuesday and 6:15 a.m. Wednesday.
Wednesday — Two shotguns, two single-pound cans of black powder, boxes of ammunition and a manual rotisserie spit were stolen from a Harmony man’s storage unit and camper at Portersville Community Park. The break-in happened between Sept. 8 and Wednesday.
Tuesday — Two smoke stacks attached to a paver on the side of Route 528 just north of Lindy Road in Brady Township were unbolted and stolen between 6 p.m. Monday and 6 a.m. Tuesday.
Monday — A Hewlett-Packard laptop computer worth $600 was stolen from the Slippery Rock Elementary School on North Main Street in Slippery Rock Township. The computer was taken between 9:20 a.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Monday.
Saturday — A Pittsburgh woman is suspected of stealing a purse and other undisclosed items after breaking into a home on Water Street in Chicora. Police did not identify the suspect in the burglary that happened between 1 and 10:30 a.m. The investigation is continuing.
Saturday — Two Cuddeback Expert trail cameras placed on separate trees were stolen from Quetot Drive in Donegal Township The theft happened between Sept. 6 and Saturday.
Sept. 8 — An unknown thief between Aug. 12 and Sept. 8 stole a 22-year-old man’s bank card from his home in Portersville, and used the card numerous times to withdraw an undisclosed amount of money from the victim’s bank account.
Sept. 8 — An orange and white, 20-inch Stihl Wood Boss chain saw was stolen from a Pittsburgh man’s camper at the Peaceful Valley Campground in Washington Township. The theft occurred Sept. 7 or 8.
State Police, Mercer
Wednesday — Police arrested Jaclyn J. Boice, 20, of Grove City in connection with the Aug. 21 break-in of Hoffman’s Grocery Store in Jefferson Township.
Boice was arraigned on charges of burglary, trespass, theft, receiving stolen property and tampering or destroying evidence. She is being held in the Mercer County jail on $75,000 bail.
Wednesday — A Hewlett-Packard laptop computer worth $350 was stolen from a an unlocked pickup truck on Jervis Road in Liberty Township. The theft happened between 9 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. Wednesday.
