Katherine Johnson, 84, of Butler died early Wednesday.

She was born in Montevista, Colo., Sept. 8, 1926, a daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Catherine Schulz Schroff.

Katherine retired following a career as a bookkeeper at Spang & Co. in Butler, where she worked for more than 25 years.

She was the widow of Dr. Ronald E. Johnson, a former Butler chiropractor. They were married May 24, 1951, and he died Jan. 18, 2009. She also was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

Surviving are three sons, Craig M. Johnson of Mount Laurel, N.J., Eric S. Johnson and his wife, Grace, of Fairless Hills, Bucks County, and D. Keith Johnson and his wife, Linda, of Kittanning; three daughters, Celestine Graham of Brooksville, Fla., Cynthia Boden and her husband, Timothy, of Butler and Cecilia Colwell and her husband, Thomas, of Templeton; a sister, Virginia Handley in San Jose, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

<B>JOHNSON</B> — There will be no visitation for Katherine Johnson, who died Wednesday, June 1, 2011. A memorial service will be planned for later.
