Armstrong says service offerings now enhanced

Butler-based telecom service provider Armstrong said Monday that it now offers an enhanced user interface and expanded functionality to include voice remote capabilities.

The UI features, which are powered by TiVo, feature “sleek screens with a modern look, deeper color schemes, more images and subject-based icons.”

The new voice remote enables “endless searches activated by casual voice commands,” the company said in an announcement Monday morning.

Armstrong President Jeffrey Ross said the company is excited about the advances.

“The enhanced EXP user interface will provide a dramatically improved user experience,” Ross said in a news release.

The voice remote allows customers to use voice commands to search the names of movies, actors and shows. Results are returned across multiple sources, including live TV, DVR and On Demand, and streaming services.

The company’s updated UI includes quick links to users’ preferred programming, and a rating system that keeps users up-to-date on live and upcoming sporting events.

Armstrong provides high-speed Internet, television and telephone services to residential and commercial customers in Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, West Virginia, Maryland and Kentucky. It is the country’s 11th-largest cable provider.
