Farmers National Bank of Emlenton hosts 'Teach' day

The Farmers National Bank of Emlenton is partnering with local school districts to celebrate the American Bankers Association’s “Teach Children to Save Day” initiative.

The bank will provide savings education through online financial literacy courses, covering the difference between needs and wants, how to identify expenses, trade-offs and ways to cut spending.

Established by the American Bankers Association (ABA) Foundation in 1997, Teach Children to Save and the foundation’s other financial education initiatives have helped reach 10.5 million young people with the assistance of more than 260,000 banker volunteers.

“We believe that establishing a strong financial literacy foundation prepares the next generation of leaders, thinkers and innovators. The impact of Teach Children to Save is far-reaching, and Farmers is proud to once again participate in this program and share our passion for education,” said Jennifer Poulsen, COO.

The virtual lessons were developed amid the COVID-19 related school closings and hybrid learning environments to allow K-12 grade students to independently learn about banking and managing their money.

Parents and guardians may now access a comprehensive list of Teach Children to Save educational courses via the bank’s finance academy.

To get started, visit www.fnbfinanceacademy.thinkific.com, select the appropriate grade level for your child and complete the sign-up process to gain full access to videos, worksheets, quizzes and more, all at no cost.

The ABA Foundation provides financial education initiatives and resources that help bankers make their communities better. The association’s signature initiatives, Teach Children to Save, Get Smart About Credit, Lights, Camera, Save! and Safe Banking for Seniors bring bankers and students of all ages together with the intention to enhance financial education.

The Farmers National Bank of Emlenton is a community bank founded in 1900 in Emlenton. The bank has 19 community offices located in nine counties across western Pennsylvania.
