8:30 p.m. Sunday — A boy's red, 20-inch Redline bicycle was stolen from the city's skate park at Father Marinaro Park. The bike is valued at $220.
4:48 p.m. Friday — A vehicle driven by David Aiken, 41, of Evans City rear-ended another vehicle at Routes 68 and 356. Larry Garvin, 54, of Butler was the other driver.
Sunday — An unknown thief stole a black and white Schwinn mountain bike, valued at $289, from outside of Hopeman Hall on the Grove City College campus. The theft happened between Thursday and Sunday. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-458-7925.11:08 p.m. Friday — Alexander J. Zitko, 18, of Mercer is accused doing “donuts” in a pickup truck at Hunter Farm Park. Police reported that the Little Eagles Football Field sustained extensive damage in the crime.Zitko faces charges of institutional vandalism, trespass by vehicle, careless driving and violation of park hours.Additionally, police said they cited three other teenagers who were with Zitko. Cited for violating park hours were Luke E. Hodde, 18, of Hastings, Neb.; Jordan D. Lengel, 19, of Mercer; and Ronald James Wagner Dailey, 18, of Slippery Rock.
3:30 p.m. Wednesday — Autumn R. Ruth, 30, of Butler is accused of trying to cheat on a drug test after a probation officer found a bottle of urine in her purse while she was at the Butler County Adult Probation Office to be drug tested as required by the terms of her sentence in a previous criminal case.Police believe she would have used the urine to pass the drug test.The required sample she gave that day, it turned out, tested positive for suboxone, a prescription medication used to treat recovering heroin addicts, according to court documents.Detectives charged Ruth with furnishing drug-free urine.
7:45 p.m. Monday — A car driven by Kevin B. McCarthy, 60, of Butler struck a deer on Pleasant Valley Road just west of Moraine State Park in Muddy Creek Township. The car was badly damaged after the deer hit the windshield and roof, and the vehicle had to be towed from the scene.1 a.m. Monday — Ty Corey Bartmas, 18, of Gibsonia is accused of damaging a fence and land after driving a vehicle onto a farm on Maser Road in Franklin Township. Police said Bartmas faces a charge of criminal mischief.4:54 a.m. Sunday — Brian Dowling, 45, of Butler was arrested after allegedly assaulting a woman at a home on Unionville Road in Franklin Township. Dowling was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $2,500 bail.7 p.m. Saturday — Chad Espinosa, 18, and John Sererra, 18, both of Philadelphia, allegedly fled the Summit Academy reform school on Herman Road in Summit Township. Police later caught both men, who are charged with escape.Friday — An unknown vandal destroyed mail that was in the mailbox of a home on Lindey Road in Brady Township. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.Sept. 1 — A thief cut and stole electric cable from a trailer home on Rocks Road in Parker Township. The theft happened between Aug. 15 and Sept. 1.
10:55 p.m. Sunday — A 14-year-old boy was hurt when the stolen all-terrain vehicle he was driving ran into the side of a car on Route 62 near Fairgrounds Road in Stoneboro.The collision sent the ATV crashing about 24 feet on its side. The boy, who police did not identify, was not wearing a helmet and suffered minor injuries. He was taken to UPMC Horizon in Greenville.Police said the boy faces numerous traffic violations and possible criminal charges.
