Butler City rallies past East Butler for legion victory
Butler City scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to upend East Butler 7-4 in Butler County legion baseball play Tuesday.
East Butler scored four runs in the top of the frame to take a 4-2 lead, but Butler City’s A.J. Barnett began the bottom of the sixth with a double that began the game-winning rally.
Alex Ziegler and Shay Stobert followed with base hits and Tim Butler hit a clutch two-run double later in the inning.
Butler City (7-4) ended the game with a pair of doubles and Tristan Fields added a double and RBI for the victors.
Ziegler, who also hit a home run, earned the win by striking out five and walking one in a complete game.
Ryan McCrea doubled for East Butler (6-3), while Tyler Crawford and Tyler Gilliland both had a base hit.
Saxonburg 6, Valley 5 — Taylor Sharer pitched two innings of relief to get the win and also had the game-winning RBI for Saxonburg.
Sharer drove home Spencer Voltz with the winning run in the top of the seventh.
Don Bierhals added a single and scored two runs for Saxonburg (3-3).
Meridian 7, Center Township 5 — Robert Stamm struck out 10 and walked just two in a complete-game win.
Adam Schaffner led the Meridian attack with a double and two RBIs. Travis Edinger added two singles and a run scored.
Dominic DeAngelo had two singles, a run scored and an RBI and Chris Forina pitched in a pair of hits and an RBI for Center Township.
