A Slippery Rock man was sentenced to probation after being charged with threatening another person with a baseball bat in June.

Jason A. McWilliams, 29, was sentenced to 2 years of county probation by Judge William Shaffer. He was also ordered to pay court costs.

McWilliams pleaded guilty April 4 to misdemeanor terroristic threats, simple assault and resisting arrest, after an incident at a home in Clay Township on June 5. Police said McWilliams drunkenly showed up at the home and made threats against a man and his family, before grabbing a baseball bat and walking into the house, without the homeowner's permission.

He then started swinging the bat before getting into a scuffle with the resident and running out of the house, police said.

Troopers searched the area and found the defendant walking down the road. He smelled of alcohol and appeared intoxicated. He also had injuries, suffered in the altercation with the homeowner. He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for medical treatment.

But at the hospital, documents said, McWilliams acted up, yelling and causing a disturbance.

After being treated, the handcuffed defendant was taken out of the hospital and placed in the back seat of a patrol car. He is accused of unbuckling his seat belt while being driven to the barracks.

Police, who had warned McWilliams to leave the belt buckled, stopped the car and had to gain control of him again, documents said.
