Ohio grand jury considers BC-3 instructor's sex case

The case against a Butler County Community College instructor arrested in an Ohio underaged sex sting will be heard by a grand jury in Mahoning County.

Jarod Mills, 33, of New Castle, waived his right to a preliminary hearing on Nov. 20, according to court documents. As such, Ohio prosecutors will present his case before a grand jury, which will determine whether or not to indict him.

Mills was arrested Oct. 22 as a result of Operation Autumn Hope, an Ohio sex trafficking sting, organized by Attorney General Dave Yost, that resulted in the arrest of 157 men and the rescue of 109 trafficking victims.

He is charged with attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, soliciting an adolescent, disseminating matter harmful to juveniles and possessing criminal tools, all fifth-degree felonies.

After Mills was arrested, BC3 placed him on a leave of absence and reassigned his then-current virtual class to another instructor.

Mills also served as pastor of Clifton Flats Alliance Church in New Castle.
