HARMONY — Historic Harmony, the borough’s historical society, is seeking grant funding to renovate the area’s historic buildings.

The group wants to replace 71 windows on some of its buildings, including Harmony Museum, said historical society President Rodney Gasch.

“We are going to have historically accurate Harmonist-looking windows,” Gasch said.

The 50-50 matching grant would come from the Pennsylvania Museum and Historical Commission.

Gasch said Historic Harmony is trying to collect information on bids before applying for a set amount of funding.

“The maximum you can apply for is $100,000, but we’ll be nowhere near that,” he said.

Borough council approved writing a letter of support for the historical society.

Gasch said Historic Harmony hopes to do fundraising events and attract potential donors with the project.

“We’re optimistic,” he said. “We’ll need to have support.”
