Sliders win; BlueSox fall

Zach Strecker went six strong innings and Prospect League Pitcher of the Week Kevin Becker-Menditto picked up the save as the Slippery Rock Sliders downed West Virginia 5-3.

Strecker gave up just one run on four hits in his outing to get the win.

Gentry Kinsella went 2-for-2 and Keegan Ghidotti also have a pair of hits for the Sliders (6-8).

Tom Crimi didn’t have a hit, but he had two RBI for Slippery Rock.

Chillicothe 7, Butler 5 — Ryan Fitzgerald led off the game with a home run, but Chillicothe scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning.

The BlueSox (7-7) rallied to tie the game at 5-5 in the fifth, but the Paints tacked on runs in the seventh and eighth to secure the win.

Brett Sullivan got the loss for Butler, giving up six runs on six hits in six innings. He also struck out six.

Butler graduate Cody Herald and Grove City High graduate Alex Miklos had two hits each for the BlueSox, who will return home to play Lorain today.
