GIBSONIA — Anne Nelson of Ross Township was promoted to director of assisted living admissions.
She is responsible for the admissions process for residents moving to two assisted living facilities: The Arbors at St. Barnabas, Valencia Campus, and The Arbors at St. Barnabas, Gibsonia Campus.
Nelson has been with St. Barnabas for five years, serving as assistant director of assisted living.
She has a bachelor's degree in sociology from Indian (Pa.) University. She and her husband Jim have three children, Nick, Andrew and Michelle Tverdosi.
Eagle photographer wins 2 press awardsHARRISBURG — Justin Guido, chief photographer for the Butler Eagle, won two awards in a state newspaper contest.He won first place for feature photography for a photograph of a line of tractors in a cemetery during a burial for a farmer.Guido won second place in personality portrait for a photograph of a woman dressed in historical clothes using a vacuum sweeper at the historical Shaw House in Butler.These awards are for daily newspapers with 15,000 to 30,000 circulation for photographs published in 2009.The contest is sponsored annually by the Pennsylvania Associated Press Managing Editors.The awards were to be presented Saturday night at the annual state Associated Press dinner.
PARKER — Central Electric Cooperative's board of directors hired a new chief executive officer and general manager, Matthew Boshaw.Boshaw has nearly 20 years of experience in the electric utility industry, both in a large urban electric utility and a small rural one. He was employed at Central Lincoln People's Utility District, an electric distribution utility on Oregon's coast, since 1998 where he served as distribution engineering and operations manager and acting general manager.During his career, Boshaw worked for several years at Commonwealth Edison Company in Chicago, where he held positions that included project engineer, reliability planner and emergency restoration of power coordinator.Boshaw holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Michigan Technological University.He and his wife Lori have two sons, Ryan, 20, and Maxwell, 10.Central Electric is a Touchstone Energy Cooperative that serves about 25,000 members with more than 3,000 miles of distribution lines in portions of Allegheny, Armstrong, Butler, Clarion, Forest, Mercer and Venango counties.

The Butler County Chamber of Commerce has two summer interns this year.• Jillian Lagner, a senior at Slippery Rock University, is a marketing major with a minor in communications, focusing on public relations.She is a member of Public Relations Student Society of America, where she recently served as the account manager for the SRU Leadership Development program.• Melissa McFarland, a SRU junior, is currently working on obtaining her bachelor's degree in communications and public relations.She has held many leadership positions in organizations such as Alpha Xi Delta, Panhellenic Council and Order of Omega. She also is the copy editor for the student newspaper, The Rocket.
• The board of directors of MSA declared a second quarter dividend of 25 cents per share on common stock, payable June 10 to shareholders of record on May 24. The board also declared a dividend of 56¼ cents per share on preferred stock, payable June 1 to shareholders of record on May 24.
