HARRISBURG — Five of the 99 cadets who graduated on Friday from the State Police Academy in Hershey will protect and serve in Butler County.

The troopers who have been assigned to the Troop D barracks are:

Tyco J. Bock of Erie County.

Ryan W. Magill of Allegheny County.

Corey F. Neill of Beaver County.

James A. Tisak of Beaver County.

Codi M. Walker of Allegheny County.

The academy’s 153rd graduation ceremony at Bishop McDevitt High School in Wyncote, Montgomery County marked the culmination of 27 weeks of classroom and physical training for the troopers.

[naviga:h3]Tuff Tornado Run fundraiser slated[/naviga:h3]

The Golden Tornado Scholastic Foundation is holding a Tuff Tornado Run fundraising event Oct. 21, from noon to 4 p.m. at Alameda Park.

Featuring a family fun run and obstacle course for children and adults, the event is being held to raise money for the Kids Weekend Backpack program, creative teaching grants and technology for Butler School District.

All levels of runners and walkers can participate in the two-mile run, which includes 18 obstacles.

Activities include a basket raffle, 50/50 raffle, super hero and Star Wars characters, eight food trucks, and a disc jockey. Children under 5 years old participate for free.

Preregistration costs $15 for kids ages 5-13, $20 for people 13 and older, and $50 for families with up to six people. People who preregister can pick up their packets Oct. 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Butler Senior High School. Registration on the day of the event costs $20, $25, and $55 respectively.

The first 100 people to register receive a free hot dog and bottle of water.

BUTLER TWP — The Old Plank Road teenager who ran away from home overnight Wednesday night has been found.

Township police would not say where or with whom Alexia Garzia, 17, was found.

Her family reported her missing at 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, when they discovered she was not at home.

Police would only say she was found inside the county.
