Felon found with suspected crack, marijuana, gun

Jordan Evans Sr.

OAKLAND TWP — A drug felon is accused of having a handgun, crack cocaine and marijuana following a weekend traffic stop in the township.

Jordan G. Evans Sr., 27, of Clarion remains in the Butler County Prison on $50,000 bail while awaiting a hearing next week.

State police said Evans was a backseat passenger in a car they stopped about 10:40 p.m. Sept. 28 for swerving in the eastbound lane on Route 68.

The driver, who was not identified in court documents, was arrested for suspected drunken driving. Troopers called for a tow and conducted an inventory search of the vehicle.

On the floor where the defendant was seated, documents said, police found an unzipped bag. Evans allegedly admitted that he had a marijuana blunt in a cigarette pack in the bag.

The pack, police said, also contained what appeared to be a “large amount” of crack.

Troopers arrested the defendant, who told them that he had more marijuana and a gun in the bag.

Seized from the bag, documents said, was a .38-caliber revolver, a jar containing suspected marijuana and a bong. The suspected crack that police found weighed 12 grams.

Police said a check of Evans' criminal history turned up a 2017 conviction for felony drug possession in Blair County. He was given five years of probation in the case, court records showed.

Because of that conviction, under state law, he cannot possess any firearms.

Evans following Saturday's arrest was arraigned on felony charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, felons not to possess a firearm and possession of a firearm without a carry license.

Additionally, he is charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and possession of a small amount of marijuana.

His preliminary hearing is set for Tuesday at the office of District Judge Lewis Stoughton in Chicora.
