3:08 p.m. Saturday — Christopher C. Geibel, 34, no known address, was arrested after he allegedly broke into a vehicle on Wallula Avenue. A short time earlier, he had been caught urinating in the parking lot of the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, according to court documents.Geibel was arraigned on charges of attempted theft from a vehicle and disorderly conduct and released on his own recognizance.
6:04 p.m. Saturday — An unidentified hit-and-run vehicle, believed to be a maroon, mid-1990s model Subaru wagon, rear-ended another vehicle stopped to make a turn on Whitestown Road at Home Avenue. The Subaru ran over a mailbox and traffic sign but continued traveling east on Whitestown Road.Anyone with information about the hit-and-run vehicle is asked to call police at 724-285-9600.1:45 p.m. Saturday — Amanda Pelesky, 31, of Butler was hurt when her vehicle rear-ended another vehicle on New Castle Road at Campus Lane. Police said Pelesky was cited for driving too fast for conditions. Robert Singer, 86, of Butler was the other driver.4:30 p.m. Thursday — Matthew Craig, 56, of Butler reported that a pickup truck hit him as he was jogging on Edgewood Road near North McKean Street. Police tracked down the pickup driver, Vince McAnallen, 50, of West Sunbury, who reported that the jogger reached out and hit the side of his truck as he drove past the man.Police said no charges were filed in the accident.
12:23 a.m. Monday — Donald J. Steighner Jr., 34, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after a two-vehicle collision that injured the other driver in Center TownshipThe crash happened, according to a police report, when Steighner lost control of his pickup truck while trying to pass another vehicle. The pickup spun in the opposing lane and collided with a car driven by Jianxin Chen, 39, of Westerville, Ohio.Chen was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries.6 a.m. Sunday — Zachary R. Celedonia, 18, of Pittsburgh was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his car crashed over an embankment and ended on its roof in a small creek along Staff Road about 2 miles west of Muddy Creek Drive in Brady Township.Authorities estimated the car landed in water about 1 foot deep and 5 feet wide.Celedonia, who was not wearing a seat belt, was able to kick out the rear door window and get out. He went to a nearby farmhouse for help. He reportedly was not injured.Unionville volunteer firefighters assisted police.
Monday — An unknown thief stole a purse and DVDs from a vehicle at a home on VanDyke Road in South Buffalo Township. The theft happened between 10 p.m. Sunday and 12:30 p.m. Monday.Feb. 24 — Someone broke into the Bradys Bend Boat and Car Wash on Route 68 in Bradys Bend Township through a rear entrance. A police report did not indicate if anything was stolen. Police said they have no suspects.
1:45 p.m. Feb. 19 — Shelly Lee Ansell, 36, of Greenville was caught allegedly breaking into a vehicle at the parking lot of the Orchard Manor personal care facility in Pine Township. Ansell is accused of taking unspecified items from the vehicle. Employees confronted her, according to a police report, and she returned the items to the owner.Police said Ansell is charged with theft from a vehicle.
3:20 p.m. Wednesday — Four people face unspecified charges stemming from a neighborhood fight during which a rifle was fired into the ground outside a home on Old Route 422 in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. No injuries were reported in the altercation.The fracas started at Michael and Nancy List's home when 28-year-old Michael List got into a fight with 24 year-old Michael Silvestro. While that fight was going on, according to a police report, Nancy List, 25, and Ryan Russo, 32, got into a fight.
