Butler woman, 36, faces charges of welfare fraud
A Butler woman is accused of fraudulently obtaining $891 in federal food stamps last year.
The Pennsylvania Inspector General’s office on Tuesday charged Cindy Jo McFadden, 36, with a third-degree misdemeanor count of illegally receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits.
Investigators said McFadden, in applying for and collecting public benefits between March 3 and May 31, 2015, failed to disclose she also was receiving unemployment compensation at the time.
Her preliminary hearing is set for March 21 at the office of District Judge William Fullerton in Butler.
