University system braces for changesHARRISBURG — The Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education is bracing itself for changes spurred by financial troubles.The board which oversees all of the universities will hire a consultant to examine solutions for the troubled system. Chancellor Frank Brogan explained that closing or merging campuses were options.Enrollment at the 14 state-owned universities has dropped by nearly 15,000 students since 2010.

PSU student dies after fraternity fallSTATE COLLEGE — A Penn State University student from New Jersey died after sustaining injuries from a fall at a fraternity house.School officials say 19-year-old Timothy Piazza of Lebanon, N.J., was injured at the Beta Theta Pi fraternity house Friday and later succumbed to his injuries on Saturday. The sophomore engineering student was a member of the fraternity.

Missing 2-year-old found in mom’s carBERWICK — State police say an Amber Alert for a 2-year-old girl turned out to be a false alarm.Alexis Weber’s family reported she had been abducted from their Berwick home about 7 p.m. Sunday and that her mother’s car, a 2005 yellow Ford Mustang might have been stolen in the process.But police say they found the girl was in the car, which somehow rolled down a driveway and into a wooded area. Police believe the girl’s mother may have forgotten to put the vehicle in “park.”
