Scelsi, Silverio earn Eagle Scout honors
CRANBERRY TWP — Nicholas Scelsi from Troop 404 was formally recognized at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor.
He received the honor May 19 at the Cranberry Elks.
Scelsi completed his Eagle Scout service project for Cranberry Parks and Recreation by constructing an agility course at the Dog Park. He put in over 200 hours in the planning and construction of the course. The A-frame course with two ramps will provide dogs extra exercise and entertainment in the park.
Scelsi completed 29 merit badges and is a Brotherhood member of the Boy Scout Order of the Arrow Kuskitannee Lodge 168.
A 2019 graduate from Seneca Valley High School, he will study environmental science/biology at the University of Pittsburgh in the fall. He is the son of Christine and Michael Scelsi of Cranberry Township.
Eagle Scout Court of Honor guests included Fred Roney, Elks Lodge president; Terry Liersaph, Elks Boy Scout liaison, troop adult leaders, fellow Boy Scouts, family and friends. Troop 404 is chartered by Cranberry Elks Lodge #2249.

CHICORA — John Silverio, 18, of Chicora earned his Eagle Scout designation.
The 18-year-old of Troop 217 in Chicora proposed to the Chicora American Legion to construct 16 cherry wood flag boxes to present to veterans or their families.
Silverio sought donations from community businesses to support the project and delegated production work to his fellow Scouts and leaders to complete the boxes and present them at the September 2018 American Legion meeting.
Silverio has been in scouting for 13 years and has earned 34 merit badges.
He is an Ordeal member of the Boy Scout Order of the Arrow.
He served as senior patrol leader, patrol leader, troop guide and quartermaster and was an Oak Leaf honoree.
Silverio graduated from Karns City High School June 5 and plans to become an HVAC technician.
He is the son of John and Karen Silverio of Chicora.
