Butler PoliceThursday — Ken Errington reported a Sony camcorder was taken from an unlocked vehicle at his North Chestnut Street home. The theft occurred between Saturday and Monday.
State Police, Butler8:31 p.m. Thursday — Abicycle was found at IDL, Inc. in East Butler. The owner can claim the bike by calling the barracks at 724-284-8100.3:45 p.m. Thursday — Acar driven by a 17-year-old boy, who police did not identify, struck a tree along Ralston Road near Route 173 in Slippery Rock Township. The boy was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
Jackson Twp. Police10:50 p.m. Aug. 17 — Clyde Day, 51, of 420 14th Ave., Apt. 32, New Brighton, Beaver County, was driving his motorcycle on Route 68, when he lost control near 2247 Evans City Road and traveled off the shoulder. Day was thrown from the motorcycle into a grassy ravine. He had a cut to his nose and was taken to Allegheny General Hospital by Harmony Emergency Medical Services for treatment.7:20 a.m. Aug. 17 — Davey Tree Service foreman Paul Perdue reported the side lockers of the trucks were opened and two saws valued at $950 were taken at the business at 132 McCarrell Lane.3:56 p.m. Aug. 16 — A vehicle driven by James G. McFadden, 42, of 111 Dutch Road, Harmony, was turning from Route 68 onto Edmond Street, Harmony, when it was struck from behind by a vehicle driven by Wilford J. Charmley, 53, of 104 Shady Creek Lane, Butler. Charmley was cited for failing to drive at safe speeds.12:09 p.m. Aug. 13 — Police responded to a shed fire at the residence of Derek A. Stay of 7933 Franklin Road, Evans City. Evans City Volunteer Fire Department responded to the blaze, which destroyed the shed, but caused no damage to the residence. A hot lawnmower was the likely cause of the fire. Among contents of the shed destroyed included three mountain bikes valued at $900, a lawn tractor valued at $1,800, a weed eater, a leaf blower, camping equipment, an electric cooler, trapping equipment, aluminum truck rims, and a 1984 Pontiac Sunbird.3 p.m. Aug. 11 — Robert Getz, a supervisor at Harmony Castings, 251 Perry Highway, reported his vehicle was damaged overnight in the company's parking lot. The vehicle's passenger side roof and windshield were cracked. A large rock found in the parking lot is believed used to cause the damage.2 p.m. Aug. 9 — Police went to 2146 Evans City Road for an alarm called in by Guardian Protection Services. They found two children, ages 13 and 7, were in the home at the time of the attempted burglary of the residence of Vernon and Christine Majewski. One of the children said a smaller black, two-door pickup truck with three unidentified white men backed into the driveway. Two of the men went to a window and the third male attempted to break through the alarm, which scared the men off. Police remained there until the parents returned. The vehicle was last seen driving on Route 68 toward Zelienople.5:20 p.m. Aug. 7 — Johnice Roxsbury of 135 Valley Drive reported a black medium-sized dog cage, valued at $100, was taken from her front yard overnight.11:50 a.m. Aug. 6 — An employee at Monte Cello's in the Northgate Plaza shopping center off Route 19 reported $397 was taken overnight from an office cash box. He told police all doors to the business, including the office, were locked the previous night. The next morning, the office door was unlocked but no signs of forced entry was noted.
