12:30 a.m. Saturday Robert F. Johnston Jr., 34, of Butler was arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, 42-year-old Terry Lemon, at her Cross Street home. Johnston, who is charged with simple assault, was placed in the Butler County Prison following his arrest.State Police, Butler11:17 p.m. Saturday A sport utility vehicle driven by Brandis Martinez-Downes, 55, of Polk, Venango County, struck one of three deer crossing Route 8 near Whitaker Road in Mercer Township.2:41 a.m. Saturday Jeremy J. Bodema, 38, of Butler was hurt when the car he was driving crashed into a tree along Branchton Road near Route 308 in Cherry Township. Police said Bodema, who was wearing a seat belt and suffered a minor injury, was cited for a lane violation.8:55 p.m. Friday Sport utility vehicles driven by Edward D. Hoyt IV, 20, of Rossiter, Indiana County, and Mark A. Baptiste, 35, of Butler collided at Routes 8 and 308 in Center Township. Baptiste, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. Police said Hoyt was cited for not stopping at a red light.7:14 p.m. Friday Two people were hurt, one seriously, in a one-car crash on West Liberty Road, about one mile west of Route 528, in West Liberty.The crash happened when William J. Sanderson, 37, of West Sunbury lost control of his speeding car while rounding a curve. The car crossed over the opposite lane, hit an embankment and became airborne.The vehicle sheared off a utility pole and flipped onto its roof. Sanderson, who was not wearing a seat belt, was flown by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh with major injuries.Two passengers in the car fled the scene, police said, but were later found. Bartholomew Mauthie, 28, of Boyers, one of the passengers, had minor injuries; he was not wearing a seat belt.Police said their investigation continues.2:55 p.m. Friday Jeffrey L. Kyles-Edge, 32, of Chicora lost control of his car, went off Osche Road and crashed into farm equipment parked in a field in Summit Township. Police said Kyles-Edge was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.Thursday Paul A. Hartle, 26, of Slippery Rock was arrested on drug and gun charges after he was stopped on Route 422 at the Lyndora exit in Butler Township. Police said Hartle was found with a loaded handgun and suspected acid blotter paper and prescription pills, for which he had no prescription.Hartle was arraigned on charges of carrying a firearm without a permit, and two counts each of possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail.Oct. 31 An undisclosed amount of money was taken from a cash box at O'Planick's Apple Orchard on Moose Road in Connoquenessing Township. The theft happened between Oct. 24 and 31.6:15 p.m. Oct. 30 Kristopher D. Clarke, 21, of Butler was caught with a suspected Suboxone pill, for which he did not have a prescription, after being stopped for allegedly shoplifting at Boscov's in the Clearview Mall, Center Township. Police said Clarke stole a pair of earings worth $16.Clarke, police said, is charged with retail theft and possession of a controlled substance.2:10 p.m. Oct. 29 A car driven by Stephanie M. Rivers, 62, of Slippery Rock struck the back of another car on Route 173 near Applewood Lane in Slippery Rock Township. Rivers, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries.Rivers, police said, was cited for driving at an unsafe speed. Nicholas Rehak, 20, of Grove City was driving the other car.1 p.m. Oct. 27 Two people were hurt when a car driven by Clyde R. Smith, 51, of Butler and a minivan driven by Karen L. Goodman, 33, of Sharon collided at Route 422 and Unionville Road in Franklin Township. Goodman and Tammy Wilson, 46, of New Castle, a passenger in the van, were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor to moderate injuries.

Marianne Oday, 48, of Kennerdell, Venango County, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after her vehicle got struck in a ditch at Route 38 and Sandy Point Road in Allegheny Township.

7:13 a.m. Thursday Samuel G. Orbin, 20, of Sarver was cited following a three-vehicle, chain-reaction crash on Route 28 at Iron Bridge Road in Buffalo Township, Butler County.Orbin's car struck the rear of another vehicle, driven by Kayla Bowser, 26, of Cabot, which caused another collision with a car driven by Deborah Demharter, 61, of Sarver. Police said Orbin is charged with following too closely to another vehicle.

4:15 p.m. Saturday A car driven by Larry Quetot, 60, of Chicora crashed into a concrete culvert and embankment on Interstate 79 in Lake Township.2 p.m. Saturday A sudden snowfall was blamed for causing a three-vehicle accident on I-79 in Springfield Township. The accident happened when Jonathon McGirr II, 23, of Greensville lost control of his car while braking. The car slid into the back of another vehicle driven by Stephen T. White, 55, of Leesburg, Va.The third vehicle, a sport utility vehicle driven by Stephen M. Fulton, 29, of Millvale, Allegheny County, was unable to avoid McGirr’s wrecked car and collided with the car.4:25 p.m. Oct. 27 Cars driven by Kara Deprano, 31, of Boyers and Allison C. May, 26, of Mercer collided at Route 258 and Garret Road in Springfield Township. May, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Grove City Medical Center, with a minor injury, Police said she was cited for running a stop sign.
