Butler Police7:54 p.m. Friday — Shawn D. Fennell, 35, of Butler was charged with retail theft after he allegedly tried to steal about $100 worth of clothing from the Kmart on Hansen Avenue.

Butler Township PoliceDec. 13 — Melissa Kasarda, 22, of Butler was charged Friday with possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness. Kasarda was the passenger in a vehicle involved in a crash on Dec. 13 and left her purse in the vehicle. An officer who recovered the purse for her allegedly discovered a large amount of marijuana and a scale in it.6:59 p.m. Nov. 20 — Christen Broad, 24, of Butler was charged with false alarms to agencies of public safety, unsworn falsification to authorities, false reports to law enforcement and disorderly conduct after he allegedly called 911 to report a man waving a gun in the Walmart in Butler Commons on Nov. 20. Butler city, township and state police responded and found no evidence any gunman existed.
