Police arrested an Evans City man Sunday for reportedly driving while intoxicated and with a minor in the car.

Newton Adam Laemmle, 43, is charged with child endangerment and DUI.

Arresting officer Brian Mazzanti responded to reports of a possible DUI and caught up to Laemmle’s silver Dodge Durango while it was stopped in traffic, documents state.

While stopped, Laemmle’s 15-year-old daughter reportedly exited the vehicle.

Mazzanti reported Laemmle had a “blank stare” and “bloodshot, glassy” eyes accompanying a strong smell of alcohol.

Asked if he had been drinking, Laemmle said “yes, little bottles of wine,” documents state.

Mazzanti had him exit the vehicle for sobriety tests but stopped testing because Laemmle was reportedly too unstable and might have hurt himself.

Instead, Mazzanti administered a breath test which showed a BAC of 0.244 percent, documents state.

Laemmle was then arrested and taken to UPMC for a blood test which showed a BAC of 0.231 percent.

He was later released on a nonmonetary bond.

His preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 2.
