Take outs will not be available.

BUTLER TWP — The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department will host a Painting in the Park course from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Alameda Park office in Butler Township.

This is an introductory class on painting for ages 14 and older. The instructor is Sandra Maxwell. The theme will be “Steelers Logo Over Pittsburgh.”

Cost is $30 per canvas.

[naviga:h3]Monster Mile Family Walk slated[/naviga:h3]

BUTLER TWP — A Monster Mile Family Walk is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Alameda Park.

Participants can wear costumes and walk through the park starting at the Masonic Shelter and continuing toward the Odd Fellows Loop. Along the way, children can stop at stations to receive a pumpkin, face painting, time on an inflatable and some candy.

Wagons and strollers are encouraged.

Admission is $7 per child ages 2 to 10. Children age 1 and younger still need to be registered. For registration or more information, call the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department at 724-284-5383.

[naviga:h3]Halloween party set at Zelienople library[/naviga:h3]

ZELIENOPLE — The Zelienople Library is hosting a kick-off party in celebration of its recent partnership with WQED in its Inquire Within program.

The event is at 5:30 Wednesday at the library, and will feature a Halloween theme and a screening of the new one-hour special, “Wild Kratts: Creepy Creatures.” Children are welcome to come in costume. Those interested should register at 724-452-9330.

The Inquire Within program works to create media-first partnerships and impactful educational experiences for children and families. The partnership between the Zelienople Library and WQED was made possible by funding from Deep Well Services, an oil services company.
