JACKSON TWP — The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust will host a series of children’s shows in Seneca Valley schools early next year.

The first of the three shows will begin in January and the last showing will take place in April. The intended audience for these shows are children, age 3 and older.

The Citizens Bank Children’s Theater Series will begin its season in Butler County with “Your Alien” Jan. 6 at Seneca Valley Intermediate High School. “Your Alien” is about a boy who befriends a stranded alien and has to help his new friend find a way to be less homesick.

On Feb. 24, a penguin will “follow his dream of flying” in “Flight School the Musical” at Seneca Valley High School. In this show, a penguin tries to make it through flight school despite not being built for aerodynamics, and he makes a few friends along the way.

In the last of the series, to be presented April 7, Rosie and her curious, creative friends get serious in school in “Rosie Revere, Engineer” at the intermediate high school. This show is recommended for children, ages 4 and older, and has a strong focus on the dreams of three girls who want to pursue STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics) opportunities in school.

All three of these shows are based on popular children’s books and are intended to teach children “self-respect, self-love, kindness, and friendship,” among other lessons.
