Moniteau girls take KSAC South title

Jenna McCorry led a first-half charge for Moniteau. Teammate Alex Guercio did the same in the second half.

Between the two, the Warriors captured their eight consecutive decision to finish as the KSAC South champions in a 55-35 triumph over Clarion-Limestone Friday.

Moniteau (13-8, 12-5) will play Cranberry, the KSAC North champion, at 1 p.m. Saturday at Clarion High School for the KSAC title.

McCorry scored 11 of her 14 points in the first half and finished with 10 assists and six steals.

Guercio had a game-high 21 points, including 14 in the second half, and secured 11 rebounds.

"Clarion-Limestone's a good team," said Moniteau coach Mark Yeager. "The record doesn't show it, but they've played everyone tough.

"Jenna came out and hit her first four shots, nice pull-up jumpers. (C-L) started out in a zone and packed in on Alex. In the second half, Alex just took over," Yeager added.
