SAXONBURG — Once again New Life Church will have a free fireworks show open to the public Wednesday at its location at 139 Knoch Road.

The church parking lot opens at 8 p.m. with the fireworks to commence at dusk. People should take their own chairs and blankets.

There will be free bus shuttles from Knoch High School beginning at 6 p.m. Two shuttles will run continuously until 8 p.m., and then begin taking people back to their cars at about 10:15 p.m.

New Life will provide free water, popcorn and a giveaway for children again this year. There will also be a DJ, games and activities.

New Life will also provide a free off-site event at South Butler County School District's Primary School for people having trouble getting to the church property or who have children who like fireworks but are afraid of the loud noises. The site will also have music, free water and popcorn and a children's giveaway.

VALENCIA — Valencia Presbyterian Church, 80 Sterrett St., has its annual rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 20.Donations of items for the sale may be dropped off in the fellowship hall foyer from July 15 through July 18. No clothing, shoes, televisions or computers will be accepted. Be sure items are clean and in good working condition.Packaged and priced bake sale items may be dropped off the morning of July 20.For more information, call the church office at 724-625-2002.

SAXONBURG — Speckled Hen Chocolate will hold a “Create Edible Chocolate Art” workshop at South Butler Community Library, 240 W, Main St., at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.Learn how to make edible decorations for cakes or cupcakes from modeling chocolate. No refrigeration necessary and no need to be an artist. No registration required.Notices of local upcoming news should be received by the Community Department one week in advance of the event.
