Freeport erupted for 10 runs in the second inning while Ashley Sample belted a home run and two singles to lead the Freeport softball team to a 17-6, five-inning victory over Riverview Monday.

Madison Rotto picked up the win and recorded a double and three singles for the Yellowjackets.

• Sabrina Johns singled home Sarah Young with the game-winning run as Karns City edged A-C Valley 9-8.

Johns had a big day for the Gremlins, going 4-for-4 with a double and a triple.

Meghan Cratty scored four runs and stole three bases for A-C Valley, which had 12 hits, all singles.

• Ashley Lominski homered, and Mackenzie Maples and Megan Yohe each drove in three runs as Moniteau routed Keystone 16-1 in five innings.

• Despite a double, two runs scored and four stolen bases by Angie Reddick, Butler dropped a 5-2 decision to Plum.

Amanda Skidmore and Amber Steinheiser also recorded hits for Butler while Skidmore swiped two bases.
