Christian Mahoney

An Allegheny County man, charged with breaking into an apartment in Slippery Rock Township, was sentenced to probation in Butler County Court on Thursday.

Christian J. Mahoney, 21, of Verona was sentenced to 12 months' probation, $200 in fines, 25 hours of community service and completion of an anger management course, therapy and any required counseling by Judge Timothy McCune.

Mahoney previously pleaded guilty to misdemeanor criminal trespass and summary harassment on Sept. 6.

He was initially also charged with felony burglary and summary criminal mischief after an incident at The Grove apartments on Harmony Road in Slippery Rock Township on March 28.

The charges were changed as a result of the plea, and the remaining counts were dismissed.

The Pennsylvania State Police filed the charges after a domestic dispute between Mahoney and his ex-girlfriend.

Police said Mahoney damaged a lock and door handle while entering the woman's apartment without her permission or knowledge, before grabbing and pushing her.

While the woman later tried to leave in her roommate's car, documents said, Mahoney “pulled her from the vehicle throwing her to the ground.” When troopers arrived, Mahoney was not at the location, police said.

Mahoney was arraigned and placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail, which was later changed to unsecured and he was released.
