LANCASTER TWP — A person who ran into the southbound lanes of Interstate 79, near the Little Creek Road exit, was struck by a vehicle about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The person was rushed to UPMC-Passavant Cranberry hospital.

Police and fire units shut down the southbound lanes and diverted southbound traffic at the Portersville exit.

Police continued to investigate the accident as of late Wednesday.
