Hegedus nets 33 in Gremlin win
Emily Hegedus struck for 33 points and Mackenzie Craig added 14 Wednesday night as Karns City battled its way to a 63-55 girls basketball win over North Clarion.
The Gremlins (8-2) had to play most of the game without senior leader LeeAnn Gibson, who left in the first quarter with an undisclosed injury.
“I know she went to the hospital, but I’m not sure what it’s about,” KC coach Dave Kerschbaumer said. “We’ll see what kind of report we get. She’s a tough kid.
“Emily and Mackenzie really stepped up in her absence. And Brooke Moore hit some big free throws.”
Moore sank four of five free throws in the fourth quarter as KC clung to a 51-46 lead after three periods.
